Arts Education Collaborative

At Bethel Woods, we seek to inspire, educate, and empower individuals through the arts and humanities. Roughly one-third of AIE alumni work in nonprofit arts organizations as directors, program developers, and researchers. These programs enhance and support sequential arts education taught by certified, qualified teachers in our public schools. Several of our faculty members are principal investigators with Project Zero, a landmark research initiative into the arts and education for more than 35 years. The Projects in Schools category supports work with JK to grade 12 students in schools registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education.

The report provides a never-before-available picture of arts education in the state and establishes a baseline for tracking and measuring future progress. The classroom can be in a private school, a school authority, an education authority, or a First Nations school (including those that receive federal funding).

The number and choice of Arts subject areas offered in a school will depend upon local context. Participants will also have access to sample grants and get practice time in both researching and writing proposals. System-wide implementation of the Grades 9 to 12 Dance, Dramatic Arts, Music, and Visual Arts curriculum frameworks was initiated in the 2015-2016 school year.

To be eligible to apply, the lead applicant needs to be Arts Council funded, or have presented work to the public through ACE programmes.
