This major focuses on how the fields of art and media operate within culture and how they transform it. Study formal, aesthetic and socio-cultural ways of understanding literature, visual art, film, music and other media. The MAS student film club helps put on the Moving Media Film Festival each spring. In addition,the UCIJAM adviser is able and willing to help guide students to graduate or professional school programs by teaching students more about application and selection processes.

In other words, we place a high value on developing university level critical reading and writing skills, but our students also use a variety of other media to learn and to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. In the Master’s track Arts, Culture and Media: Mapping the Arts in Society, students examine the role of the arts in society. In addition, students interested in pursuing graduate degrees will find the undergraduate program in media studies to be rigorous, including opportunities for research and writing that will prepare him or her well for pursuing a master’s degree. These officers rotate through a variety of positions, including associate conductor, administrator and instructor at the Armed Forces School of Music. In Foundation to Year 2, students learn to be an audience for different arts experiences within the classroom. Transformers Youth Arts Group meets on Thursday evenings at St Peter’s Church, Burnham, and have been together since 2010. As they make and respond to artworks, students explore meaning and interpretation, forms and processes, and social and cultural contexts of the arts. In the year 2006, these artists occupied around 87,000 jobs in the United States.
