For over 75 years, the School of Art at Bowling Green State University has provided a nurturing environment, encouraging students to express their creative voice in a school where art is innovative, vibrant, and full of possibilities. The Wits Schools Liaison team forms the link between high school and university allowing a smooth transitional process for the student. The modernization work at Valhalla High School was part of the Proposition U bond passed in November 2008 by East County voters. They underscore the ongoing facility needs across the Grossmont Union High School District.
There are uncountable ways my school affected me, but these are the ones that made me who I am, and as thankful as I am for being a part of this magnificent school, I couldn’t be grateful enough to my parents, for making the right choice for me. My school turned 25 this year on July 12th, and I can only wish that wonderful citizens bring back the laurels for this school as alumni and create a place for this institution in the pages of history!
The school is home to about 150 PhD students, who are researching on exciting and important topics relevant to the Australian community and to the rest of the world. On Saturday morning, November 19th your son/daughter should arrive to school by 7:45 a.m. and testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Room assignments will be publicized prior to testing.
Even though, I can’t be a part of the festivities, I can at least share my happiness with many of my fellow school mates, who feel the same way. The Downers Grove Music Club is hosting the fourth annual fund raising benefit, A Notable Celebration of the Arts on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the First Congregational Church in Downers Grove. I grew up with the school and it was equally pleasurable to see the school grow with us, getting new classrooms, winning national accolades, and basically making us proud to be part of this great institution. A workshop on Navigating the Audition/Portfolio Process will be offered from 6:10 p.m to 6:50 p.m at the College of Fine Arts – Theatre Lab.
Right now our school does do an Honor Roll (no ceremony or assembly, just in the newsletter and on display), however we are in the midst of piloting standards-based grading in some grade levels in our district before it rolls out district-wide. East County school districts are partnering with local law enforcement and the San Diego County Office of Education to host a Parent Safety Forum on October 27, 2016, at Greenfield Middle School, 1495 Greenfield Drive in El Cajon.
