Americans for the Arts wants you to elect art professionals from the field to serve on one of four network advisory councils: Arts Education, Emerging Leaders, Private Sector, and Public Art.  The opportunity to meet leaders in arts education from across the country provides current and valuable advice that has helped shape the way I approach my work. Applications are for projects that use the arts to diversify local economies, generate revenue, and attract visitors and investment and occur between Sept.arts & culture

These may be to bring about political change, to comment on an aspect of society, to convey a specific emotion or mood, to address personal psychology, to illustrate another discipline, to (with commercial arts) sell a product, or simply as a form of communication.

Professor Helena Szépe of the University of South Florida, who researches and teaches on books of the Renaissance era, with a focus on illustration, both in manuscript and print, brought her talented, perceptive graduate and advanced undergraduate students to visit the Studio to see some of the basics of typesetting and printing by hand and to examine selected leaves from early printed books held in our Tampa Book Arts Studio Library collections.arts & culture

In Ancient Greece , all art and craft was referred to by the same word, Techne Thus, there was no distinction between the arts. Probably grab a little dinner afterwards and might even make a quick run into a craft store. To be eligible to apply, the lead applicant needs to be Arts Council funded, or have presented work to the public through ACE programmes. While these often have no specific utilitarian (motivated) purpose, anthropologists know that they often serve a purpose at the level of meaning within a particular culture. This year, Simon (age 8) is working through Sonlight’s Language Arts 3. I love the collection of readers included in this program. Creative Exchange is a platform for storytelling and resource-sharing around artists in community, in partnership with the Knight Foundation, Kresge Foundation & Surdna Foundation. We encourage national, state, and local organizations to become Partners of the Arts Action Fund.
