By granting financial contributions, we enable the production of new artistic work, strengthen cultural exchange between Switzerland’s various linguistic regions, raise international awareness of Swiss culture, foster up-and-coming young artists and engage in arts outreach. The opportunity to meet leaders in arts education from across the country provides current and valuable advice that has helped shape the way I approach my work. As a Co-Founder of Arts @ Large , I have attended numerous Americans for the Arts conferences where my national network has grown. Other projects already funded through the Queensland Arts Showcase Program include Blue Roo Theatre Company’s three-year collaboration with Opera Queensland on a production of Orpheus in December 2016, the 2016 Cairns Tropical Writers Festival in August, and unique dance collaboration between Torres Strait dancers and Townsville’s Dancenorth resulting in a dynamic new work to premiere in 2017.
The Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support (IVAIS) program supports a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous visual arts industry with strong participation by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. With initiatives of our own we take up topical developments in the arts scene and lay the foundations of new networks for Swiss cultural practitioners at home and abroad.
By supporting arts organizations that commission and exhibit work by artists of color, employ all levels of staff of color, and regularly offer programs with content expressing multiple ethnic viewpoints, we ensure the arts are at their best and the canon is flush with the necessarily diverse expressions of 21st century creativity.
The purpose of the Arts Organization Project Grant program is to support registered Alberta arts organizations, companies and/or schools by providing a grant for a specific arts-related project or event. The arts community is an important sector to support and nurture, we feel that the SALA sponsorship will provide this support and continue to promote artists and the community they are a part of. Increase racial equity inside arts organizations, with a special focus on large, well-established ones, to achieve more racially diverse staff, boards, audience, and programming. We invest in the vital work of these racially diverse arts groups so the art canon and sector can be flush with diverse artists, spaces and audiences.
