The National Endowment for the Arts recognizes and supports a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary to America’s indigenous jazz. Since 1974 the Open Academy at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music has opened it’s doors to the community through programs, courses and workshops for school students, musicians, music teachers and to all those who are interested in learning more about music.
The Contemporary Touring Initiative, as part of the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy supports significant exhibitions of work by living contemporary visual artists and craft practitioners that reach and engage national audiences, and extend into regional communities.
I can keep going with benefits of learning music on and on. But as a teacher I can tell one more very important fact: music helps to calm, relax, be happy – a big help for over stressed kids from difficult homes, students in difficult schools and so on.
