While we’re discussing education, the theme of the current series of posts here on The Archdruid Report, it’s necessary to point out that there are downsides as well as upsides to take into account. Community Board 14’s Education Committee and School District 27’s Community Education Council (the successor to the pre-Bloomberg local school boards) have initiated a series of meetings aimed to attract parents from every Rockaway school where they get an opportunity to share issues of concern regarding their schools.arts and education

Results from the statewide research show that nearly 90 percent of Arizona students have access to at least one arts education program, but that half of the schools responding to the survey reported no budget for curricular support in arts education and almost 8 out of 10 schools spent less than half-a-penny a day on arts education.

You see, I do feel that this arts/health thing we’re all part of, is by its very nature, a grass roots movement, not something that you can impose standardisation on, and yet it seems the free-marketeers are gaining ground and soon everything we do will only be sanctioned if it meets the standards of the politburo – standards dictated by those pale-faced marketeers – and never – absolutely never – those artists, free-thinkers and activists that make up the movement.arts & entertaiment

Our 2015-16 professional development workshop series for arts education practitioners and administrators features monthly events on a variety of themes. The various models of education theory are predicated on Pedagogy while almost entirely ignoring the fact that most art schools are directly involved in the teaching of adults. The survey also revealed that New Jersey high schools with more arts education tended to have a greater percentage of students who were highly proficient in language arts on the High School Proficiency Assessment test. When students are learning about a culture in their English Language Arts class or their Social Studies class, it is the perfect time to teach those students about the art of that culture. Eg in Comparative Social Inquiry, they have discussed how an economic principle can also be applied to politics and education.
