The mission of the Burlington High School Guidance Department is to support the academic, career, and personal/ social development of all students. The topic of arts interventions in medicine, following many years of arts/music activities for children with learning disabilities in hospitals and homes, has come under increased research scrutiny in recent years. Topics discussed in brief presentations include School Safety, Internet/Social Media Safety, Current Drug Trends, and Pedestrian Safety. The Pre-ACT, a practice test for the ACT, will be offered to any interested juniors on Saturday November 19, 2016 at Burlington High School.
The Wits Schools Liaison team forms the link between high school and university allowing a smooth transitional process for the student. The modernization work at Valhalla High School was part of the Proposition U bond passed in November 2008 by East County voters. They underscore the ongoing facility needs across the Grossmont Union High School District.
CalArts School of Art critique in Millie Wilson’s class of student Guon Rong’s exhibition I Could Be Having Flying Dreams in the Main Gallery. Relevant or not, in the process of celebrating Diwali, Christmas and Id, we learnt a lot about culture and history and the acceptance of each religion for what it is. Priority will be given to centres that: are working with young people for whom access and inclusion is an issue and who will use the grant to support them to pilot, embed or develop their Arts Award work with these groups. Students names were written on Trojan Head cut-outs (our school mascot is the trojan) and displayed on the hallway. Congratulations to freshman Miles Teague (French Horn), who has been named a member of the Illinois High School Theatre Festival’s All-State company of Sweeney Todd. Supporting cultural spaces and other organisations to be open, positive and welcoming places for older people; and taking high quality arts and culture into places where older people will find it easier to engage.
