Ward 7 Arts collaborative was proud to be present at the dedication on 6, May 2011 of the new Dorothy T. Height (formally Benning) Library. A. Proceeds from the event will benefit LSSU Arts Center Gallery exhibition programming and support the Sunrise Rotary Club’s mission to include global clean water projects and local initiatives such as dictionaries for third graders, competitive swimming events, and winter family fun nights.
The exhibition ends with a second art installation, Messages, which illustrates the final question posed by reporters in the interviews: We are 7 billion human beings on Earth; what message would you like to address to the inhabitants of the planet?” The replies take the form of many cries from the heart, of hope, of warning or of awareness-raising as to the problems which affect us all.
