The north west arts and health network is changing – flexing and evolving with the times – still with its feet firmly on the ground in the north of england, but responsive to the many international voices that get in touch. Just a reminder that the research project took place in Newcastle, North Wales and Derbyshire and it will be exciting to share new research and thinking around the impact of the visual arts on the lived experiences of people with dementia. The Book Arts Studio Library Collections are centered on the age of letterpress printing, with a special emphasis on private and independent presses; examples from more than 600 presses are represented. Americans for the Arts serves, advances, and leads the network of organizations and individuals who cultivate, promote, sustain, and support the arts in America. While more & more people are clear on that reality, it’s always time consuming to have to explain over & over again that my martial arts training (especially with some of my early teachers) is part & parcel of my medical education.
As a Co-Founder of Arts @ Large , I have attended numerous Americans for the Arts conferences where my national network has grown. The Tampa Book Arts Studio includes a working letterpress printshop with equipment from the 19th and early 20th centuries. This is a photo of last year’s sleepover when the weather was perfect for the kids to enjoy watching their favorite movie outside. In ancient times, martial arts masters were recognized as such for their practical understanding of the human body. Her intention is to support the Arts in every genre; bring joy and inspiration to all. ARTS enables rapid project changes and short project times to be realized without compromising quality or quantity.
Each kit comes with a round storage case, which is not only handy to store the mini printing plate in, but it also doubles as a stamping block! The kids learn about missionaries, about God’s omnipotence, they read challenging literature that inspires them to really think about their faith. This year, I’ve organized our Sonlight curriculum and plans in a huge binder along with all three Language Arts. Arts @ Large also sends two of our staff members (young leaders) to Annual Convention every year!
We saw this first-hand recently at the Tampa Book Arts Studio when pages from books printed in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries on the other side of the world—mostly in Latin—began to speak to a twenty-first century seminar. The aim is to care for customers and employees in the Bremen area in an even more targeted manner and therefore also do sufficient justice to the long-term ARTS growth course in the region. Priority will be given to centres that: are working with young people for whom access and inclusion is an issue and who will use the grant to support them to pilot, embed or develop their Arts Award work with these groups. Over the past 7-months, OutsiderXchanges, a visual arts project based on collaboration, reciprocal learning and creative exchange has brought together six learning disabled artists and six contemporary visual artists in one studio space.
Alongside Paul Camic, Victoria Tischler and Norma Daykin I had the opportunity to share some of the work of Dementia & Imagination artist Penny Klepuszewska – (which when you see/hear it – I think you’ll agree – is profound)…but alongside the effervescent poet Gary Glazner, it was the honest, intelligent and heartfelt presentation of Larry Gardiner from Oxfordshire Advocates who blasted the delegates with his reality check.
