The ASU School of Art prepares its students for the creative and critical challenges of the global 21st century through more than a dozen areas of study. Stary has since participated in a number of exhibitions and international workshops, which include the Watermill Centre, ‘a laboratory for performance’ in New York, The Caribbean Contemporary Arts in Trinidad and Tobago, Braziers International workshop in London.
Meanwhile, people who got lots of B’s in school seem to be driving around in Mercedes, buying million-dollar apartments, enjoying freedom and prosperity in a manner that strikes the former good students, now professors, as not only unseemly but of a kind a just society surely would never permit.
With 12 high school campuses in constant use by over 21,850 students and over 3,000 staff, our facility needs far exceed the standard funding allotment we receive from the State for school facilities maintenance. Also at the October Governing Board Meeting, we recognized the heroic actions of two staff members at Mount Miguel High School who saved the life of a student. Marco de Jong has been named the Arts Student of the Year by the Auckland University Arts Students’ Association.
Congratulations to Matt Faunt (The Performing Arts Scholarship), Meng Paulsen (The Walter J. Cooney Scholarship), Lee Rosch (The Communications Scholarship), and Julia Steig (The Don Mitchell Ironman Scholarship). The philosophy of the North High School Fine Arts Department faculty is to offer students a well-rounded curricular experience that includes exposure to genres of music and art in a wide variety of creative and re-creative settings. The Wits School of Arts building can be accessed from the Station Street entrance to the main Wits campus.
The work of Socialiniai Meno Projektai continues to flourish, and as part of the exhibition of work by people affected by homelessness currently running in the National Art Gallery of Lithuania, a discreet arts project by Andrejaus Kibisovo is currently receiving rave reviews in national press and TV. This coverage of an artist who lives outside the system is quite exception.
