The undergraduate program in art history equips students with the fundamental skills and perspectives of the liberal arts: to think clearly and critically, to write well, and to find, analyze, evaluate, and present facts and ideas. There is perhaps no more critical juncture in American history than the years in which Americans drafted the federal Constitution, fiercely debated its merits and failings, and adopted it, albeit with reservations. The Tampa Book Arts Studio includes a working letterpress printshop with equipment from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The symposium is committed to mixing established senior scholars with junior scholars (including pre-doctoral scholars); and scholars trained in history and law with scholars from other disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities; and scholars based in North America (Canada and the U.S.A.) with scholars from Europe and Australasia.

Our majors have gone on to thrive in graduate MA and PhD programs in art history and in careers in College and University teaching, museums, and the art market; for others, art history coursework has proven outstanding preparation for a broad range of disciplines, including law, business, and medicine.
