The History of Art program, which has grown in size and scope in recent years, offers courses of study leading to both undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 2006, more than fifty years later, the manuscript was discovered by Dr. Welford Taylor, Professor of English Emeritus at the University of Richmond and curator of the University Museums’ recent exhibition, Julius J. Lankes: Survey of an American Artist.” Dr. Taylor has edited the Rich Mouse manuscript, written an introduction outlining its history and meaning, and proposed its publication to Dr. Richard Mathews, Director of the Tampa Book Arts Studio.

Contemporaneous with Wölfflin’s career, a major school of art-historical thought developed at the University of Vienna The first generation of the Vienna School was dominated by Alois Riegl and Franz Wickhoff , both students of Moritz Thausing , and was characterized by a tendency to reassess neglected or disparaged periods in the history of art.

Authored by Stephen N. Fliegel, curator of medieval art at the Cleveland Museum of art, and Elina Gertsman, professor of art history at Case Western Reserve University, the catalogue reassesses Cleveland’s Gothic table fountain in the context of other similar luxury objects, analyzing specifically the fountain’s history, function, materials and style.

Naturally on the other side of viewing we find the creation of collages, posters, photographs, dramatizations, videos, charts and graphs… to some this may seem like the most advanced of all the language arts sub-areas, but really it can be the simplest.
